Anyone any details of this for next year, heard of it, fancy it, but can't find mention of it
PS mean fantasy as well
Or what other events are in Feb and March next year
Feb is the GT final and the TNG event.
Irish GT sound a good un, Rob and Adam went over there last year and came 1 + 2, both came back with good reports although it is a special character fest.
I'm assuming you mean the 2007 GT? Because 2008 was won by a Greek fella. I didn't think it was that special character heavy, although there were a few kicking about, sure. I just thought it was the most enjoyable tourney I have ever been to, very relaxed, laid back, and friendly.
Cool. When is it, where is it, who runs it?
Any links - more info please
Myself I'm not at the finals and am not too keen on the rules at Merseyside, but nothing is decided yet.
Well last year it was pretty much run by the Dublin store, who were a cracking bunch of lads, I'd say your best bet is to give them a ring and speak to the manager, his name escapes me just now, but it wouldn't surprise me if he hadn't even thought about it yet!
My particular favorite bit - having to explain to the winner what his award meant - the cheesiest army award. (yep it was karl with twin stanks, the only army at the event I really couldn't do with playing... Of course I drew him game 5 - him 1196vps, me 0vps, classic:))
Last year it was announced mid-January and played on 5/6th April at Clarion Hotel (Liffey Valley). This is a really handy location for people flying in, it's only a few minutes by taxi from the airport.
It's a very friendly event, and run in the typical Irish laid-back style. Last year there was a good international turnout (English, Danes, Italians and Greeks), but the locals didn't really take to the 'see-you-next-tuesday-hammer' style of gaming that some of these folks brought to the event. Quite a few of the Irish tourney players have stated that they won't be bothering with the GT again until it gets a decent rulespack.
It's definitely a special character fest (last year I faced Thorek gunlines in games 3, 4 and 5), though most of the locals haven't really sussed how to make truly nasty armies yet.
I'll give it another go this year, though I might just ref it (last year's refs were fairly clueless about wfb) rather than play.
Complaints like what? Apart from the fact that New Vampires were allowed to play by one guy, despite that being specifically against the rulespack I had a really lovely time, one of the most enjoyable tournaments I've ever been to.
