any help on this plz?
thx in advance
First off if you're buying weapons from the T1 merchants then they are probably of white item types, you can't as far as I know salvage these.
The best advice I can give you is to go to any T1 or possibly T2 merchant, (they will have merchant title under their name), and scroll to the bottom of the list. There you should find two items both green that are there to be used to salvage and help you through the early levels of the skill. These are called shattered equipment and ruined equipment I believe or something similar. You should be able to salvage these and level your skill up enough to start salvaging at your current level.
Also remember you can only salvage items of green or better value items, i.e. items with their name in green, blue or purple. You cannot salvage white or grey named items. Also some items for whatever reason can't be salvaged and you won't get any messages about it. Usually you'll see this happen with belts/capes and when you try to salvage them it doesn't work.
If you're buying from renown merchants in T1, you should be able to salvage those at skill 7. You can do what Kalean mentioned and just buy the salvage stuff from the T1 regular merchants.
ok..... i see now...... thx for all the help i ll try it out and i ll let you know what happen...
again thx alot....
Remember that the max skill is 200 so if you break it up that works out to 50 points per tier, or 25 points every 5 levels, which seems to be about how the items are split it. A lvl 13 item for instance will be salvageable for somewhere around skill lvls 50-75. There's some variance on what you can get away with but that's the jist of it.
Frankly, skill 25-75 is pretty bad...there's very little gear for you to salvage and skilling up can be quite difficult. It's even worse if you're trying to support Talisman crafting with it. Let's just say that Talisman crafting is not for those with shallow pockets. I had to dip DEEP into my higher level characters bank accounts to fund it (spent a lot of money on AH mats and gear to salvage).
Again, just remember, for every 25 skill points you have to move up about 5 lvls on the gear you salvage.
I think if you do it as you rank up, it's not much of a gold sink. Especially if you level an alt that does scavenging or have a friend to supply you with gold essence and curios.
The way I worked it in was instead of selling the items I would find, I just salvaged them all and was able to keep my salvage skill pretty high that way. This is provided you do a lot of PvE to get those drops. I grinded lots of PQs so it was worth it for the drops as well as the influence rewards i wanted.
One problem is that you can run out of inventory with all the fragments and magic essences you collect. I typically hoarded as much as I could until I had no more room and then went on a talisman crafting spree. The lower level talismans (<10) don't really sell well on the AH so I usually just vendor those. The talismans with stats around 10 and up usually sell, at least on my server (drifting castle).
Yea I never vendored any item I could salvage and the only ingredient I had to buy was the container which is pretty cheap anyway.
On a side note, I crafted a permanent +19 wounds talisman yesterday. /flex
It's funny how many friends you suddenly have when they find out you can make talismans like that.
On the downside, it's NOT easy...I got lucky with a purple fragment off a lvl 37 blue. Not looking forward to how difficult it's going to be to get more of em, or how much of a demand there's going to be for the talismans themselves.
